Rise of Lost Empires gets a free demo.

riseoflostempiresicon.jpg Confession: I've been missing out! Gameloft, the chums who put out Castle of Magic and Assassin's Creed: Altair's Chronicles, released Rise of Lost Empires earlier this month and it was positively received, in fact it currently has a 4 1/2 star average on iTunes. Pretty good, right?

Well when the App Store comes out with approximately 12 million games a week you're bound to skip over a handful of titles. Even though I wanted to give it a shot Rise of Lost Empires fell through the proverbial cracks and eventually fell off my radar all together. Gameloft must of heard the whimpers of neglect and decided to put out a free demo. Needless to say I was pleased as punch to hear the news. I downloaded the demo, gave it a spin and I have to say I was pretty impressed with what I played.

The game is a 2D isometric RPG featuring some pretty nice artwork. The game, which I didn't expect, has a lot in common with a traditional RTS; You build cities, manage resources, train units, etc. You can control individual units or your whole army depending on what you want to accomplish. The gameplay is extremely simple but was pretty satisfying to play. Never did I encounter any real "trouble" or "challenge" but I had a fun time with it none the less. I usually find that demo's do the opposite effect of what they're trying to accomplish; Instead of wanting more my thirst for the game is quenched. Rise of Lost Empires, however, made me want to continue the adventure and see where it takes me. If you're a fan RPG's as well as "free" then the Rise of Lost Empires demo is definitely worth looking into.
