Finger amputation on the go! Brave Man hits the app store. |
|
So once I saw the first screenshot for this game and the price tag I
knew I had to give it a shot. I'm a HUGE sucker for novelty games like
this. Especially when said game looks like it was developed for the NES.
Brave Man, released by Takaaki Ogiwara, hit the app store today for 99
cents.
It's an extraordinarily simple game, in fact, all you do is tap
the screen at the appropriate time. The simplicity of the gameplay and presentation just adds to its overall charm. Also, the fun factor for a game is immediately increased once digit amputation comes into the equation.

The game slides a knife across the screen over your characters spread
out hand. The longer the game is played the faster the knife will
become. When you tap the screen the knife will come slamming down and
depending on your timing you will either hit the table (good) or a finger (bad). If you hit towards the middle of your finger you'll slice it off, ending the game and causing your character to shake in agony. If you slice it on its side you'll suffer a
small cut, but do this too many times and the finger will eventually
come off. The more sequential hits on the table you get the higher your
score will be. If you're the competitive type you'll be glad to know
that Brave Man features a fairly simple online leaderboard system
displaying the world's top scores.
I can't picture myself playing the game too many more times after this
but I don't regret the purchase. The concept along with the
execution puts a smile on my face like few games have. At 99 cents it's worth checking out if it sounds up your alley, just don't expect to get too much
gameplay out of it.
