I'm loving these cross promotional appearances indie developers are doing with each others franchises! It was just last week we found out that Enviro-Bear from Enviro-Bear 2010 fame was going to make an appearance in a future update of Minigore. NOW we find out Minigore is getting some love with John Gore making an appearance in an update of Illusion Labs Sway ($4.99). Love it! Keep 'em coming, boys.
Treyarch has released a companion app for Call of Duty: World at War for free this afternoon. The app will keep you up to date with all of the latest Call of Duty happenings including personalized stats, news updates, friend info, etc. The details are as follows:

your online career as you reach for the highest prestige rankings.
-Stay connected with friends by tracking their progress and compare their stats with yours to see who's the better gunner.
-View leaderboards to see where you stack up against the competition and see whom you have to overtake to make it to the top.

The Intel section provides you with the latest and greatest news

getting left out of the loop when the next Double-XP weekend arrives!
I hope this is a trend that continues to pop up. There are plenty of console games I would love to have a companion app for. Now if I actually played World at War I'd say something like "Pretty cool!" but instead I'll have to reserve my reaction to just "nice".
I gotta admit, when I found there was a Guinness World Records game coming out I got mildly excited even though I had no idea what it would entail. Would the world's tallest man come into play somehow? What about the genius who put 8 rattlesnakes in his mouth? Or the guy who lifted 24lbs of weights with this tongue? SURELY the furthest nasal injection would come into play, right?
While none of those things (to my knowledge) made it into the game I was pleasantly surprised to see the title be reviewed so favorably. It currently has a 4 star average rating on iTunes and is a compilation of mini-games, which actually makes perfect sense. I was still intrigued but couldn't part with it's debut asking price of $4.99. What I CAN part with, however, is 99¢. As of today, for a limited time only, you can pick up Guinness World Records for the bargain bin price of only a buck. Count me in.
I love the reason for the generous drop in price,"Free for less than a day, because someone from outside the US really wants the game." Someone go give this guy a hug! And thank you anonymous foreigner for somehow swindling yourself a free copy of the game and allowing us all to benefit.
You are the elite space mercenary "Space Ninja". You have been tasked
to deliver a certain object to Jupiter, but mysteriously turret defense
systems throughout the galaxy started attacking you.
Force your
way through 40 stages of galactic defense systems using your special
time-slowdown ability (touch the screen to activate) or using 7
different powerups to help you get through the hardest of defenses.
Over
40 levels, with 5 challenge missions. You can save replays of epic
moments you went through to show your friends. Gain medals by finishing
stages without special abilities.
Control
is accelerometer based, and you can custom calibrate it. So you can
play it vertically, while laying down in the couch, or whatever
position you want.
And the hits just keep on coming! The latest in the "what a steal" department comes to us by way of F.A.S.T. or "Fleet Air Superiority Training". F.A.S.T. is an air combat game with a heavy emphasis on production, the game looks and plays brilliantly. I'm always extremely skeptical of games that use the accelerometer as your main control input but the guys at SGN were able to ensure a smooth control method using tilt control. The game debuted at $9.99 and has slowly but surely been dropping in price ever since. There's no telling just how long they'll keep it at 99¢ so you're better off picking it up sooner than later.
