Star Defense drops down to $1.99

stardefense002.jpg

Ngmoco's Star Defense has dropped down in price to the extremely "worth it" price of $1.99. This is the second price drop in a little over a week. Are they gearing up to drop it even further to the App Store sweet spot of 99 cents? We'll see! Either way this is an incredible value if you've had your eyes on it but have been resistant because of the cost of entry.

Hey tubby! Pumping Muscles will be free until Saturday.

pumpingmuscles003.jpgLook, I can't help it, games with primitive, goofy graphics on the App Store immediately grab my attention. From the second I laid eyes on Pumping Muscles I knew I wanted to play it. Even then I knew that a buck was too much. Well, that didn't stop me and I bought it anyways. I played it once and that's pretty much been it. Just because I took the plunge doesn't mean you have to. In fact, until the end of the week it's free, free, free!

The game is extraordinarily simple. The faster you swip your fingers upwards on the screen the more strength you give the body builer. With each level you increase the amount of weight he lifts and once you get to about 600 lbs you're swipping your screen with your finger like a psycho, it becomes shockingly hard. But don't take my word for it, get while you can on someone else's dime.

Ridiculousness I say! Killa Kitties From Compton released.

killakittiesfromcompton001.jpg

If this one does well I predict a huge onslaught of wacky, nonsensical games hitting the App Store within the next few months, if they're not already on their way. I'm calling it right now, this game is going to be huge. Cat humor is gigantic, it's only a buck and the App Store is the perfect platform for a title like this to get buzz and flourish.

I bought the game and while it delivered a couple of moderate chuckles the gameplay is a bit lackluster. The game is essentially a few minigames that you play one right after another. The games are extremely simple but aren't too satisfying to play. But we're dealing with gangster cats, is the actually game itself really all that important? Nah, not really. My guess is most people will play it once or twice and will put it down after that.

It's interesting to note the developer behind the game, Jason Oda, an extremely talented graphic designer and programmer I've been following for years. Jason has a knack for getting attention with his niche based games, you might recall one of his past projects, The Emo Game, which gained a bit of notoriety many moons ago.
