The App Store being the way it is we're seeing all sorts of random, interesting and quirky games come out of nowhere. We've got the bear driving game, the vending machine game and the finger amputation game. Thanks to Quit It! we can add the 'poking game' to the list. 2N Productions, the makers behind the game, explain:
You’re an audience member of a game show called QuitIt! You interact
with Lumpy, the show’s star, by poking him with various pokers to win
cash. Use your winnings to buy strange gifts for Lumpy as well as even
stranger pokers for your persistent poking pleasure.
Unable to leave the game show's stage set, Lumpy is at the mercy of
you, a member of the QuitIt! audience. He can wince, cringe, and try to
dodge your teasing all he wants, but alas, it's of no avail.
On to of being incredibly charming and having a great sense of humor it looks like they've fully commited to the whole game show idea:
I love the little motivational posters they have in the background and the fact that you can pick from a handful objects to poke Lumpy with. The real question is will QuitIt! be any fun? Tell will tell. No word yet on when QuitIt! launches or how much it'll debut at, but we do know that it has been submitted it is awaiting approval. For more information on QuitIt! head on over to their official site.

Strange. Last night just before I crashed for the night I saw Vending Machine Champ ($1.99) by Adult Swim hit the app store. From the first screen I knew I wanted to play the thing. Any title whose main gameplay element is pummeling a finicky vending machine will immediately grab my attention. I took one look at my freshly laid out pajama's and the cup of warm milk sitting on my night stand and ultimately decided to wait until the morning to give it a try. Wrong move, Garza.
I wake up this morning to find the game no where in sight. App Shopper still has it up in their database but if you try to buy the actual thing you'll see this:
Not cool. There's no word yet on why it's not showing up or when it will come back for download. While doing some very, very light detective work I found out that there's actual a flash version of the game already in existence. Not sure how long it's been around but it's news to me! Head on over to the Adult Swim site to give it a try. Adult Swim describes the game as follows:
You've been unwittingly training for this your whole life, simply by
being who you are: a lover of snacks and an unremitting cheapskate.
Vending Machine Champ pits man against machine as you tip, punch, and
kick the greedy metal beast as it clings stubbornly to the snack that
is rightfully yours. If you succeed, you are granted sweet and / or
salty nourishment. If you fail, you are granted humiliation and / or
injury and / or death. You're going to grab a snack. Or die trying.
• Use quickness, precision, and aggression to beat the hell out of a machine
• Unlimited snack challenges with escalating difficulty
• Addictive gameplay compliments addictive crap in machine
• Snacks taste better when you risk your life for them
Dear 99¢ Sales and Lite Versions, I love you guys! You allow me to try games I otherwise would pass up or get full versions for next to nothing and for that I am eternally grateful. You knew I was curious about Space Ace even though I've never played the original, didn't you? Thanks pal!
You can now pick up Space Ace Lite, a demo version of the recently released port of the 1984 classic, on the app store. Go on, scamper off now!
